A last lap dust-up between Carl Edwards and Kurt Busch turned into a heated exchange outside the No. 2 hauler after the Coke Zero 400.

Edwards went over to Busch to confront him over the last lap of the crash-filled race Saturday night.

“We were just coming to the start-finish line, having a good race, and the 2 car for some reason just turned left and hit me,” Edwards said. “I don’t know if he didn’t know I was there or if he did it on purpose, but it seems like he was just frustrated. We all get frustrated when we have a bad day, so I’m sure it’ll be no big deal.”

Edwards said the two did not get their problem resolved. “No. He didn’t want to talk, so that’s OK. He doesn’t have to talk. I just wanted to see what the deal was.”

Busch retorted, “He turned right after the start-finish line and completely destroyed our car. That’s all there is to it.”

When asked whether there was something to discuss: “Yeah, I crowded him to the yellow line coming to the line to see if I couldn’t hold sixth place but he completely turned right after the start/finish line. There’s convincing evidence of that. We’ve seen him turn right before and wreck a Penske car.”

Busch, of course, is referring to the race in Atlanta, when Edwards intentionally turned into the car of Brad Keselowski. That sent Keselowski airborne, and Edwards got disqualified. Keselowski was unhurt, but many were stunned by Edwards’ actions.
